Funeral Notice

Rev. José Fu Chun of the Diocese of Macau died in the Lord at the Conde S. Januário Hospital on 24th April 2025. He was 91 years old.

A Brief Chronology of Father Fu: 

13th May 1933: Born in Macau 

18th April 1945: Baptised at Fatima Chapel

1948: Entered St. Joseph Seminary

26th June 1960: Ordained priest by Bishop Policarpo da Costa Vaz at St. Joseph Seminary Chapel

1960: Appointed Principal of Escola de Santa Teresa do Menino Jesus

1962: Appointed Vicar Cooperator of St. Lawrence Parish

1981: Appointed Vicar Cooperator of St. Anthony Parish

2000: Appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Francis Xavier Quasi-Parish, Mong-Há

2005: Appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Lazarus Parish

2014: Entered retirement while continuing to assist pastoral duties at St. Lazarus Parish

Father Fu was a caring priest, highly respected by the faithful. He was diligent and faithful in carrying out his sacramental ministry, especially when visiting families and the sick.

The funeral liturgy for Father Fu is scheduled for the morning of Saturday 10th May 2025. The coffin will be brought to St. Lazarus Church at 9am, followed by the Funeral Mass presided over by Bishop Lee at 11am. The burial will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery after Holy Mass.
