The Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony

 


 

Introduction

 

The Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony is the administrative section under the Diocesan Curia, with the      direct responsibility to the Diocesan Curia and in accordance with the Code of Canon Law (CIC 491). The Office is under the supervision of the Diocesan Chancellor and its functions are as follow:

 

1. Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony: Catalog, management, usage, and policy development and implementation

2. Diocesan Patrimony: Catalog, management, usage, and policy development and implementation.

3. Preservation, Conservation, and Restoration of historical objects and documents 

4. Cooperation, conservation, application, research and promotions related to the Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony

 

Diocesan historical archives inquiries and reference services

 

The “Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony of the Catholic Diocese of Macao”, which is located at the Bishop's House, is still under construction. The Office provides limited archives inquiry and reference services at the moment.  Interested parties and applicants can fill in the form HERE, and send the application to the Office of Archives and Patrimony  (archives@catholic.org.mo), or to the Bishop's Office by fax (Fax number: 2830-9954) for review.

 

Exhibition rooms of the Seminary 

 

There are three exhibition rooms in the old wing of St. Joseph's Seminary open for visitors by appointments (The cloistered area not open to the public). Interested parties and applicants can fill in the form HERE , and send the application to the Office of Archives and Patrimony (archives@catholic.org.mo), or to the St. Joseph's Seminary Office by fax (Fax number: 2831-2455).


In addition, visitors may visit the "Treasure of Sacred Art of St. Joseph’s Seminary" next to the Chapel of St. Joseph's Seminary. The museum is located at the Rua do Seminário. Opening time: 10 am to 5 pm, closed on Wednesdays, open on public holidays, free admission.
