Prayers for the New Pope

On 8th May 2025, His Eminence Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected as the new Supreme Pontiff, taking the name Leo XIV.

The Diocese will arrange a solemn Mass of Thanksgiving following the official announcement of the Papal Inauguration by the Holy See. In the meantime, all parishes and Catholic communities are encouraged to offer Masses and prayers for the intentions of the new Pope. 

During the Eucharistic Prayer in English language Masses, priests are to say:  “…your servant Leo our Pope…/…together with Leo our Pope…”.
