Macau, July 2, 2025 – The faithful rejoiced as the community gathered once again to celebrate the feast of the Blessed Mother. Led by the Association of Our Lady of Piat Devotees, the nine-day novena culminated in a solemn Thanksgiving Mass in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Visitación de Piat.

This cherished devotion traces its roots to 1604, when Dominican missionaries brought the original image of Our Lady from Macau to the Philippines, with the mission of evangelizing the Itawes people of Cagayan Valley. The image found its home in Piat, Cagayan, where her maternal presence quickly became a source of miracles, conversions, and deep spiritual comfort.

Known affectionately as “Yena Tam Ngamin” by the Ibanag (Mother of Us All) and “Apo Baket” by Ilocano devotees (Venerable Matriarch), the Blessed Virgin has long been revered not only for her intercession but for her intimate connection to the people.

Now, more than 400 years since her arrival in Cagayan, divine providence brings her legacy full circle. A Filipino family, moved by devotion, has brought a replica of the revered image back to Macau. Here, she continues to inspire faith and unity—a maternal presence without borders, whose love transcends culture, race, and geography. Our Lady of Piat remains, as ever, the Mother of us all.

(Those who wish to welcome the image into their home for prayer or reflection are warmly encouraged to contact the Association of Our Lady of Piat Devotees through Sis. Mary Jane Espineda. May our lady's visit bring peace, healing, and renewed hope as she lovingly embraces your household with her gentle presence.)
