Macau, June 28, 2025 – Every Saturday, the Pastoral Care for Filipino Migrants hosts Lingap Pinoy, an initiative rooted in compassion and community. The word “lingap” loosely translates to “to care for” or “to provide assistance.” But for Filipinos, it holds a much deeper significance — it means caring for someone out of a sense of duty, of compassion, and above all, of love.
The Lingapan Spirit lies at the very heart of the Saturday gatherings. What began during the pandemic as a humble effort to support fellow migrants affected by hardship has blossomed into something greater: a place where food nourishes not only the body but also the soul, where the warmth of home is rekindled, and where the Church’s maternal embrace is tangibly felt. It is the embodiment of the idea that our community is one family, united, supportive, and ever ready to look after one another.
This week’s Lingap Pinoy was made even more meaningful with the presence of volunteers from Caritas Macau, who generously offered basic medical services, including blood pressure monitoring and health consultations.
In every shared meal, every gentle touch of care, and every volunteer’s smile, Lingap Pinoy continues to affirm a beautiful truth - that even far from home, no one is ever truly alone. With each Saturday gathering, the spirit of lingap lives on, reminding us that love expressed in service is a light that never fades.
